This issue features the poetry of Selina Leem, an award winning screenplay by Jack Niedenthal, and an oral history about WWII scouts. As Tennyson’s Ulysses says, “That which we are, we are...” This collection of poems,stories and memoirs represent the work of a diverse group of students in my spring semester Creative Writing class. Blessed with a varied array of talents and interests, they came to the class with differing backgrounds and experience in writing. Each student chose one poem and one work of prose for inclusion in this anthology, and with the assistance of one or more classmates edited and revised their pieces for publication. This collection of stories and poems is the work of students in the Creative Writing class at Rice Memorial High School, fall semester 2014. Students were required to select from their course-related works, choosing at least one piece of fiction and one poem. The teacher's only role was to collect, arrange and publish the book. New Creations 14 was initially released in e-book form, and is offered in this printed edition for those who might wish a more tangible keepsake.
