The American Crisis is a powerful pamphlet series written by one of America's least appreciated founding fathers, Thomas Paine. Paine originally wrote and published the pamphlets between 1776 to 1783.
George Washington was so moved by Paine's words that he ordered his officers to read the December 1776 issue to the entire Continental Army prior to going into battle, before he crossed the Delaware on his way to victory at Trenton, New Jersey.
