Currency: 11th Turner National Print Competition and Exhibition shows the results of the 2017 exhibition juried by Erin Sullivan Maynes. It represents an overview of contemporary printmaking hosted by the Janet Turner Print Museum, California State University, Chico, Chico CA. This exhibition has been presented biannually since 1995. This catalog depicts all exhibited works, artists's selfies, artist statements and acknowledged award recipients. Also included are museum curator and juror essays.

Words from the Author The concept for this book came to me while doing some editing in Photoshop. It was evident that I have worked with women from different parts of the equator as well as shapes and sizes. In my eyes they were all beautiful in their own form. I wanted to display their physical features and put an emphasis on the fact that there are no guidelines to what’s “sexy” despite what standards society tries to place on woman. In today’s world you can find over a million different opinions on what’s sexy, hot and NOT! But it takes a strong person to be themselves in-spite of what the majority may think of them. Since Janet Turner’s arrival in 1959 and the formal institution of printmaking as a studio practice area within the Department of Art and Art History’s curriculum, faculty have been printing and the Turner Museum has been collecting! While not all the artist represented are solely printmakers, from their diverse studio practice they made graphic connections that expand our understanding of their image making or aesthetic intent. This survey, spurred by the recent passing of artists Richard Hornaday, James Kuiper, Ann Pierce and Claudia Steel, takes a historic look at printmaking revolving around the university setting and the artist/educators that contributed to its growth.

Mankind has always been fascinated by the sights beheld in the sky, day and night. The daylight offers sun and clouds in constant movement creating and re-creating all manner of shapes, sizes, colors and weather. The dark background of night brings clarity to the stars, planets, moons, comets and constellations. The tracking of stars and constellations was used to create many of the world’s religions via myths and assumptions. Calendars have been perfected using the stars, giving mankind a means for keeping track of time. Man has always been drawn to the creations of the heavens and has been inspired by the designs in the sky.

EDNA - A Journal of Art in Residence is the annual journal of work made at The Millay Colony for the Arts. Millay Colony is an artist residency program in NY State on the property of the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. We have been supporting artists, writers, and composers with one month residencies since 1973. This issue is a double issue to honor our 40th Anniversary. It features poetry, fiction, plays, essays, memoir excerpts, and art. We are quite proud of the work that is created at the Colony and are very pleased to be able to showcase it in book form.
