A perfect companion and sequel to the first in a series, "The Competition" where we continue to follow the trials and tribulations of a group of young dancers on their quest not only to win but to find meaning..Mr. Kokich again shows us not only his dedication to the art of ballet but his commitment to teaching..His themes of the importance of convening the art or as he puts it "to be in the moment" vs the technical aspects of the art run throughout the book along with the importance of ones internal drive to "want to do what you do"... These are important concepts for ballet and for life in general..

I loved this book as much as the first installment! I know absolutely nothing about ballet but this author is clearly well aware that may be the case with his readers. He details every step and movement with such amazing detail you can see the performances in your mind. He also gives wonderful insight into specific ballets giving a quick education to those of us who need it. I am on pins and needles waiting for book 3!
