Algebra teacher Scott Kent has just moved to a new school, in a new town, to begin a new life. After Scott’s tumultuous past year, he is desperate for a fresh start.

Armed only with a scar and a set of math textbooks, Scott is determined to control his primal urges. But despite his best efforts and the support of his overbearing mother, Margaret; his cocky therapist, Monty; his cat, Lizzie; and a cocktail of drugs; loner Scott finds himself entangled in the web of one of his students, a girl named Stacy Weathers.

Soon, Scott becomes increasingly paranoid as he continues to deal with his past trauma and his new doubts about the people around him. Can Scott get his life back together, or will Stacy unravel it all? This may be one problem Scott won’t be able to solve.
