Book Synopsis
This collection of stories is from different Puranas, itihasas and other literary sources of Hinduism. The stories of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu are mainly found in the Bhagavata Purana. The story of Krishna is the main theme of this Purana. Srinivasa Kalyanam is found in Padma Purana. The story of Lord Rama is contained in the great book of Ramayana. The story of Rukmini’s wedding is also from the Bhagavata Purana. Devi Mahaatmyam is the story of Goddess Durga. A very detailed account of how she killed the demon Mahishaasura is given in this book. In telling Her story, I have followed this book.
The love story of Nala and Damayanti occurs in Maha Bharata. I have followed the Telugu translation of this epic by the great poet Nannaya to tell the story. Unlike the other stories, here I have translated each verse of the original as found in the Maha Bharata by Nannaya into English.
