Book Synopsis
Her hair blew in the wind and her hawk-like eyes stared at him, a stare harsh enough to kill anybody, or anything, in her path. With pure black skin and vacant black eyes, she seemed like nothing more than a three dimensional gloom. The only way to tell apart her hair and eyes were the thin white outlines of them. Her fingers were used as knives.
Daniel slowly walked toward her. She seemed terrified of others, even though most others were afraid of her. She pointed her knife-like fingers inches from his heart. The knives were now touching his shirt, breaking through it and starting to break through his skin. He leapt backwards, but the murkiness would easily follow him. Suddenly, a loud bang broke the silence, and the girl’s knives turned back into regular fingers, and she was gone.

Through an interesting use of prose and dialogue, the author introduces us to Jessie's world; a world in which the 13 year-old orphan is in more trouble than she bargained for, and struggling to understand strange things that occur when she experiences strong emotions. With the help of a new acquaintance (Daniel), however, Jessie may have a chance to escape those who would harm her, understand something about herself she struggles to believe can be possible, and gain a trusted friend.

In "Jessie's Eyes" Yesenia Perez has crafted a quickly read story with a rapid plot, that keeps the reader desiring more. The characters come alive through her dialogue-driven chapters and the plot turns are full of surprises. Despite the protagonist's "cursed" state, we identify with her immediately as the imperfect hero.

After the first paragraph, I couldn't put the book down! The is a story about a girl who was abandoned at an orphanage and had to fend for herself, she sees things that no one else can see and she is a part of a world that she never knew existed. Daniel has been sent to find her and keep her safe. They are being hunted by evil and she has powers beyond her control that could harm life as you know it. This is part one and I can't wait to read the second one!

This story follows a girl named Jezebel Vettal (Jessie), a thirteen year old girl going on fourteen, who has been placed in an orphanage. While Jessie thinks she's been abandoned, in reality her parents did it to protect her. Unbeknownst to her, she holds a power of exponential destruction that is feverishly sought after. The plot doesn't hesitate to step in as Jessie abruptly finds herself both hunted and protected. A boy named Daniel has been assigned to find and retrieve her, and together they struggle to survive a chase by murderous magic users.

What was interesting was the fact that Jessie didn't possess any kind of white mage "angelic" power, but a horrific and demonic power that was wildly out of control. The reader makes the journey with Jessie in finding out whether or not they'll survive, or if she'll ever see her parents again. The first in a five part series that leaves bo
