Book Synopsis
This book is an honest account of the struggles that the author went through as a first generation immigrant woman in America. The challenges that she had to face are not unique to her, but are in many ways similar to many other mothers who fought to escape oppressive social and political systems and in the process went through the heartbreak of having to be separated from their children. The book describes in detail the story of escaping a place that was highly effective in crushing joyous living and in arresting normal development as a young woman and the efforts to establish oneself in a completely different, unknown and sometimes frightening environment. This is at the same time a story of finding oneself and emerging stronger on the other side of adversity. This book is a first part of a trilogy that the author dedicated to her daughter, as part of a legacy of freedom and success in the new, friendlier and more forgiving land.
