Book Synopsis
Jazz wakes after a night she can't recollect one piece of, and she is now being taken to a mental hospital. She is bitter and insistent that she doesn't need anyone, especially if they quit on her. Vitriolic, she blames society for how she landed here. Once she settles into a routine, Amber, her new muse, changes Jazz’s mind about residency at the hospital, instantaneously. Jazz ponders the line between selfless, selfish, and what needs to happen to protect her own future. Instead of self-love, she recklessly allows a deep dependency for another patient to evolve as she attaches to the life they emit.

She is done tolerating the system that has proven to fail many patients before her. When all she desires is to find a new life — one she doesn’t despise — the woods remind her that recent demons lurk nearby.

Foxgloves is a new and enlightening look at self sabotage, self love, and acceptance of reality. It is poetic, elegant, and disturbing.

"Coraline" meets "The Truman Show" in the rain and they make a baby, and name it “Foxgloves”. An amazing fiction by Ashlee Maza.

I found this book in the new arrivals section and was not disappointed. I hope the author writes more books soon that I can buy. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I was not expecting what happens. Read this book!

If you enjoy a little mystery and complication then you will like this book. Sometimes it takes deep thought to see where the author is going but it comes together so good. The character development is strong and realistic.

I don't know what I was expecting from Mrs. Maza but it wasn't this. Her novel is gritty and real. I like how fast paced the book is and it doesn't waste time jumping into the next event.

Maza writes immaculately impulsive behavior. She treads dangerous waters fearlessly. Whether you want to feel or not, she insists on pulling it out of you. I wanted to read the book in its entirety, in one sitting, to not lose the grip of her message. "Foxgloves" is a polyphony that will likely become a classic. I am extremely impressed and proud of my colleague.
About The Author
Arizona-based author, Ashlee Maza, debuts her first novel, Foxgloves, where uncomfortable themes of honesty and humility bring normal human behavior into question in this fictional novel.

Her inspirations of nature and heartbreak are palpable as her writing thrills and suspends her audience. She concentrates in lyrical and poetic writing, which creates strangeness, tension, and emotion for her readers.

Just before graduating, Ashlee attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where inspiration for Foxgloves struck. While she worked as a journalist at the local news station, she began writing Foxgloves. Ashlee moved to Phoenix to finish college at Arizona State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature.

If Ashlee isn’t writing in some form, she will be found with her husband and daughter, Tylar and Ember, taking photos, or enjoying time in nature. She has a vibrant passion for writing music, singing, and teaching others how to use their voice. Ashlee is constantly working on new projects, like children’s books, or her next novel.
