Book Synopsis
Fayola Wilson’s life is rolling along without an awful lot of direction. Her cramped apartment, in New York City, is too small for her and her daughter Grace, and her job as a nurse, while fulfilling in some ways, never seems to earn her enough to get by.

There is just one problem Fayola can see. The farm is in Mississippi and from what she can remember about her visit to the state, was that Black people were still definitely regarded as second class citizens and that racism was alive and well.
Despite her misgivings, Fayola travels to the farm and is amazed to find that certain things have changed in the deep south. People interact with her, she discovers her grandmother was well liked by Blacks and whites alike and there’s something else…
