Book Synopsis
Already a multi-black belt martial arts expert at seventeen, Dakota “Koti” is about to embark on a journey that will not only test her fighting skills, but also her desire for a more tolerant and compassionate world. Her martial arts instructor, Master Ken Takai, and her mother Esther have known for a long time she was destined for great things. They both feared, however, that the powerful dark forces emerging around her, could prove too much for one so young and innocent. Will they be able to prepare her in time? Is Koti strong enough to overcome the power of a sorcerer? And will she find the strength to save those she loves before it’s too late?

There's something about the characters in this story that stick with you -- in a pleasant way -- like friends you wonder about, and want to keep in touch with. And like the beautiful region near Cedar City, UT, where this story is principally set, there is a wealth of nuance and character in the drama. I found it hard to put the book down, because, like the regions in, and around Brian Head, it's hard not to be captivated by the imagery and depth of color!

I have only read about 7 books in my life. I’m not making ch of an avid reader (partly because I prefer living life over reading about it & if a book doesn’t create a relatable scenario quick enough that I don’t have to rack my brain to hard to imagine it, I set it aside & may never get back to it).
I was engaged with this story all the way through, even though.
