Book Synopsis
Life is a mixed bag for veteran journalist and newly minted “disaster reporter” Hack Remington. First, the bad news: His ex-wife is going through a career crisis, his son is threatening to move out of state, and one of his cats is absurdly obese. His city is badly bungling a growing homelessness problem. His planet is breaking (earthquakes), melting (glaciers), dying (coral reefs), leaking (king tides) and burning (wildfires). Worst of all, idiot-in-chief Alfred Toole is running for re-election and as Election Day 2020 nears, tensions everywhere are boiling over into violence. The good news? Hack’s love life is getting better, thank you very much.

An entertaining and very well-written piece of contemporary fiction that looks at the not-too-distant future and the dystopia that is our world. I thoroughly enjoyed it and do hope that there will be a sequel!

As a retired reporter and editor, I found all the tribulations that Hack goes through quite believable. "And Away We Go" offers a realistic look at the sad situation in American newspapers -- and America itself. The characters are well developed and interesting. I was sorry I came to the end so rapidly. I hope Mr. Parsell has some additional stories he'd like to put on paper.

Sorry. I just saw that I neglected to put any stars on my rating of "And Away We Go." The fact I read it in three days should indicate that I enjoyed it a great deal. I just didn't see how the star rating worked. Yes, give it a five. Especially for its timeliness, as well as the author's skill.

Make no mistake, we are living in a dark time and the future does not look good. If you want to read a book that will take you away from that reality for a little bit, this is not the book! Instead, Reed Parsell's ingenious writing will bring you in the thick of it, full force. But it will be an amazing, profound, entertaining and extremely comical ride along the way. I was mesmerized from the first to the last page, laughed to near tears many times and was left analyzing all the details in between and the deeper meaning of “And Away We Go”.

“And Away We Go” with Reed Parsell as he takes us on an adventure that has us confront the dire personal and societal ills we all face in today’s existence; confrontations that are woven with such wit and humor, I found myself laughing out loud throughout the adventure. I can’t wait for his next book.
