Book Synopsis
Frederic Remington (October 4, 1861 - December 26, 1909) was a painter, sculptor, illustrator, and writer who specialized in vivid depictions of the Old West. Unlike other artists of his generation who romanticized the era, Remington went out and experienced the period himself, bringing it to life for his own generation, and many to come, through his art.
In this written piece originally published in Outing Magazine in 1888, Remington details his experience traveling with the 10th United State Cavalry composed of black men known as the "Buffalo Soldiers." Included is his original artwork depicting the various events and his impressions.
