Book Synopsis
President Wilson's call to arms was met enthusiastically by about forty young men who attended Coalinga's schools from 1908 to 1917. Considering that the High School graduated its first class of two in 1912 the fact that so many took up arms speaks well of the patriotism of these young men, their families, and of the community as a whole. Their biographies are presented here as augmented with illustrations and by letters published in the Coalinga Oil Record.
